MN City Impact Alliance Gathering at Redeeming Love Church
Heidi Heino, candidate for Senate District 35, spoke with our group about staying engaged with our neighbors ahead of the election. Her experience door-knocking shows most people are indifferent, but those who do want to talk tend to focus on fraud, education, and affordability. She also noted a small but vocal fringe that rejects her simply because she and Trump are both Republicans, so it helps to be prepared for that reaction. A few practical next steps came out of the discussion: when talking with neighbors, bring ballot and voting information along, and consider using Karin Miller's QR code as an easy handout or on your phone. We're also exploring whether a one-page summary of our state's financial situation and its real dollar impact would be useful, and looking into better resources for judiciary voting analysis, including a possible judiciary prayer group. Longer term, there's a growing sense that we should pray for young leaders to step up, and eventually build a pipeline to develop them, especially by meeting them where they are on social media. Building on this and on ideas from Slide 10 of the MNCIA meeting, we're considering putting together one consolidated resource covering critical prayer points, prayer opportunities beyond our local church, civic engagement opportunities, communication sources, and voting guides.
